The aluminium front caliper used on series IV Mazda RX7 models has a significant weight advantage over the cast iron front caliper found on Volvo 240 models.
A larger aluminium front caliper combined with a larger front brake rotor and larger pad surface area results in improved braking performance and improved ability to repeatedly brake from a high speed, lap after lap, before fading.
Making the installation processand bleeding process easier, the Mazda caliper used only has a single brake line, rather than the two brake lines per caliper when using the standard Volvo 240 caliper.
The rotor used is from a Volvo 740T and only requires the wheel stud holes englarged to suit the larger dia Volvo 240 studs.

It is a simple and fairly inexpensive upgrade, moving to a larger 4 piston caliper.

Required parts for this conversion are -

• Mazda RX7 FC3S (Turbo II/Series IV 5 stud models) calipers with short hard lines
• Volvo 740 Turbo brake rotors. 22mm thick, 11.25" dia
• Brake pads to suit
• 4x M12 x 1.75 40mm regular cap screw
• 4x M12 x 1.25 40mm regular hex bolt
• 8x M12 spring washer
• 2x Brake distribution block plug
• 2x Volvo 240 late style brake lines (two original lines can be retained)
• DVS Volvo 240 to Mazda RX7 (Series IV) caliper adaptors

DVS P80 320mm brake conversion adaptors are sold with a fitting guide and a list of required parts. These can all be sourced, with the exclusion of the calipers, from DVS.
All hardware, brake lines, pads and rotors, can be sourced from DVS or your preferred local supplier.
